i think that the Jokes, Fun Stuff & a Little Inspiration should be removed

in my opinion, there are too many off topic discussion rooms for the size of the site - i believe there should just be one until activity increases more

when you click on active topics, there is a large proportion of those threads jokes. Sometimes more than half are jokes etc which i think will lose the site members.

WT is great - everyone who drops by here on a regular basis knows that the site isnt fulfilling its true potential and i think that too many off topic discussions is something which is holding the site back

dont get me wrong - i love jokes etc but i primarily come here to discuss web development issues

what does everyone think?

Interesting point. It certainly brings up something that I had been wondering about relating to this, which was that I'd noticed that most other forums have their 'General' ones listed at the bottom, wheras WT has them at the top. I've noticed the number of new messages in each forum goes down as you move down the page, so maybe they should be at the bottom?

Sorry to hijack your post Fonz! Just seemed to be a good time to bring it up.

I think I agree with you, though. I like the Jokes but I don't think that having a forum specifically for them is essential. They could go in the General forum and the volume would go down a bit if they wern't actively encouraged.

So I vote with Fonz on this one.

(i get referred as a wegie a lot as ive got a glaswegian accent and work in edinburgh!!)

there should defaintely me at least one non-webmaster related room - every forum deserves a place where they can kick back, relax and share jokes and links etc theyve found on the web

also - dont let too many people agree with me or the power will go to my head

Interesting points. I am strongly considering your suggestions and will be moving the forum orders around.

I have already planned on removing the W.T. Tips & Tricks Exclusive Forum (and moving old posts to appropriate forums) but I will also be adding a new forum into the marketplace.

The one thing I dont like about the jokes forum is that a member can quickly raise their post count with a bunch of non-webmaster related jokes which don't add much "webmaster" value to the community.

Any other opinions about this?

well to avoid this - what you can do is go into the vb admin panel and then go to the room you want to amend and then there is an option there which is something like "posts count towards members post total"

set that to no in whatever room you want - ie. non webmaster rooms

i sort of voice the same opinion.

but instead of removing the forum, it can be left as it is.

the order of the forums can be changed..

plus as chief said it does help ppl to have their posts count increased without really contributing ina much helpful way

Non-webmaster forums must include the Spam Can. We need to subtract post counts and store points for spam. Okay, let's not be mean about it and take away, let's just reward them with negative numbers. LoL!

Aww but I like those forums. Moving them down might be okay but not getting rid of them completely. Sometimes I have a really great joke I want to share.
