Is an incredibly silly idea. I understand that you are looking for active forum members, and if I had the time and dedication, I would glad to be one, as I have been a member of many many different forums (I even see several familiar faces here!) But I am just trying to reply to a single pm, which is leading me to make a tons of really silly joke posts, and this post here. It's your board, so its your decision, but hey, at least this counts towards that five

The 5-post to PM rule has nothing to do with encouraging active forum members, but to reduce spam. We had quite a problem with users signing up and PM-spamming other users.

Since we have placed this rule into effect, PM spam has decreased significantly. Although we try to make things easy for everybody, we'd rather induce this small rule on new members then have our active members deal with nasty PM spam.

Not like it's hard to make 5 posts We have lots of general discussions that allow you to reply quickly (like Your Operating System or Where in the World).

hey snlash ... look on the right side, there's a little box called "featured Polls / Threads" those are 5 ... so it wouldn't be hard to get the 5 posts if you really wanted to ... anyway, check people's contact info in their profiles, most of them can be reached by instant messaging, email ....

what i wanna say is that if you are that new as to not have 5 posts and be able to PM you will not have more than 2-3 people you would need to talk to, and them you could prolly ask for contact information

just be patient ... rules are just ideeas that have been thought and rethought 1000 times and finally accepted

This question has been asked a million times over, I think.

You must make at least 5 posts before you may create new messages, or reply to any messages you receive. This is to reduce the amount of PM spam.

User statuses are updated hourly, so once you gain your 5 posts you will probably have to wait a little while.
You will have to wait at most an hour (probably less) until the update script is performed.
