Suggestion -New Catagory?

Basically General Discussion has nothing but wacky games and wacky threads. It is impossible to have a general intelligent discussion there because the games knock it out within an hour or two. I don't mind having games and misc. crap around, but it kills a lot of other good discussions.

I propose that there be a new category made for "Misc talk". This would include all the games and pointless thread talk. Leaving general discussion open to "general intelligent discussions".

EDIT: Forgive my misspelling of category.

I do support you on this issue Johnny and voted yes, even though I do play the games myself, but have to admit this has gotten way out of hand.

Yep, recommended this a while ago too. Back then, I was thinking Community Talk should look something like this (and still do):

General Discussions
- Fun & Story Talk
- Miscellaneous Web Talk (For all website topics that don't fit anywhere else)
- Politics and Religion (Should be named "Debate Talk" so we can discuss other serious issues like philosophy, science, etc.)
New Member Introductions
WT Forum News and Announcements
WT Suggestions and Feedback

This would also eliminate the need for a whole other "News and Suggestions" Category.

In the meantime, if you have a more serious topic, do feel free to post it in the Politics and Religion forum. Those of us more up to serious topics do check it periodically.

I guess "Debate Talk" is probably the best title, but always brings to my mind a scream fest. My husband is sitting next to me and mentioned all they can do is write and not throw chairs or anything else at you, but in their writing it can get nasty!

But all joking aside we definitely need some changes, I am up to Philosophy and the Sciences. In earlier years had done a lot of heavy reading and talking to people on these subject matters, listened to their opinions and have also learned. My opinion it's nice to hear what other people have to say and what their ideas are.

Which would also apply to a sack of s...manure, I suppose.

The Politics and Religion forum is underutilized, and I think its original intent was for many types of serious non-Web related topics anyway. Personally I was for naming it "The Pit". You can interpret that name several ways, of course.

I like that name too (The Pit), but I don't think the staff is seriously considering naming it that though

LN and cbwm basically made that forum though, and since they haven't really been around as much, posts there became more and more infrequent.

It was a few years ago, basically. I remember recommending the change here, here, and here. There were perhaps other times too, but those are the threads off-hand.

It wasn't the only suggestion I've made, there's been many others too that have gone unanswered / ignored. So I guess they don't like them...

After feeling ignored for a while, I just decided to give up on recommending improvements. The staff's just not interested anymore.

I have had some thoughts, I see there has only been 5 votes and the poll is closed, which tells me perhaps the interest really isn't there or may be it is. I play some of the silly games myself in the General Discussions and at this particular time this is what interests just about everyone. Many years ago I don't believe there was a Politic and Religion Forum, this was all in the General Discussions forum. There was some real intense discussions on numerous subjects and these threads were very long and very interesting. People actually talked to each other with their ideas and the whys.

My suggestion would be to leave everything the way it is and add maybe a Science Discussion to the Religion and Politics. The Science could include unexplained phenomenon, astro physics, medical, medical breakthroughs, quantum physics, etc.

People are still using the General Discussion for intelligent discussion, such as a member was having trouble with their Thunderbird account, another member was gone for several months, awhile back another member displayed some beautiful photographs, etc. My suggestion at this point in time would be leave the board the way it is.

My first time posting in this section( Charged as guilty for playing most of the time in the fun threads...eek). I so agree with Giselle to leave the GD as it is, and just put any other intelligent discussion in a new category or sub category.

I honestly don't care how it gets done. I just think the games need to have their own home. There is 20 or so games that people play and I've seen good discussions die fast because it got engorged by all the other games. It's made it so I don't even look in the general discussion anymore because I really don't care about playing games on a forum. Point being General Discussion isn't General discussion. It's game mania. The two should be separated in my opinion.

Honestly Johnny I do support you and can understand your feelings. My observation is happy members, happy members means business, which means they like the games, not everyone though. Believe me I was disgusted myself last week, but that's me and it's my personal opinion and I only represent one member. Why don't you post something in the General Discussions Forum? I see other members are, perhaps the new games will cease when the members have something interesting to talk about with new threads.

It was just a suggestion. I do glance at the General Discussion forum from time to time. Like today, which there was a real thread for once that i did post in.

If other members don't like to talk about anything else other than games and webmaster stuff it's fine by me. There wouldn't be a point to make a forum if James and I are the only ones talking in it.
