Free means you can have something without any obligations and without giving anything in return.

Any time you ask for something in return, you're putting price on whatever you have in your possession
and in return you want to be compensated in one form or another. Asking for reciprocal link is the same
as asking to pay you back and it doesn't matter if the payment is cash, fruit basket, post card
or reciprocal link, you don't give away something for free, you are want to be paid back and that is
my friend is NOT FREE

Your being over sensitive to the wording used, 99% of users are entirely aware of what 'Free - with reciprocal' means and have no problem with it, it is a popular requested category and there is no other equally concise way to describe it.

Free means no obligation, free with reciprocal means conditional transaction,
barter of some sort.

When you are putting condition: will be available if, I let you have it if,
only if, you must pay me back with piece of your website real-estate etc.
then you are extorting some benefit in exchange and that is not by
any stretch of imagination defines free.

Just because some moron decided that calling it free will sound marketable
doesn't mean that this action by it self is free and 99% or people aware that
they are forced to accept the condition and to pay back with link.

Remove free and leave reciprocal and maybe then people stop laughing at you
and after that tell directories owner to remove free in front of reciprocal or
you won’t add their sites to your list and people will respect you.

I think the easiest way to list link submissions for a directory would be:
  • FREE (May take up to 90 days for review - NO Guarantee that it will be approved)
  • Reciprocal (Will be reviewed within 7 Days)
  • Paid (Reviewed within 24 hr.'s) $1.00
(Disclaimer - ALL submissions are subject to our Terms Of Use, any violation of the terms of use will result in immediate Termination of account & or submission request)

Something along those lines anyway. To each their own, this format just makes clear sense (Less confusion)

Just my opinion.......

Thank you Eric,

Exactly my point. If you say " Reciprocal" without FREE then you are making clear
that people don't have to pay any money but they must to give something in exchange
for the privilege of being listed and reciprocal condition must be part of Paid Directories List
because there is only 2 Categories: Free and Paid

Okay Wayner,

We know that at least 2 persons from a dozen we asked to review our site responded positively to our request (we have their confirmation email) and posted reviews.
How long does it take for you to approve reviews?

Also. I am looking on your list and see sites rated 8 and 9 and then I compare them to our Directory.
Funny thing, I can’t see why you rank them 9 when in reality they are have not even half of qualities
of our Directory.

Can you point me to even one directory on your list (beside Yahoo and DMOZ) that hosted on its own server? Or, maybe you can point me to directory that has less than 50 dead links per every 10,000 links at any given time. Or, maybe you can show me unique by design and accessibility directory in your top 10 list and tell us how and why they are better

I hope, I‘m not asking to much.

Is this waynerwayner guy for real?

There is no way you can get any answers from him because he is apparently ignores his own thread.

In addition he ignores Reviews people made about Directories (3 that I know reviewed our directory but none of them added) and adds only reviews about directories he personally likes.

Hey wayner, why don't you come out from woodwork and tell us the full story?
