I've stumbled my blog home page at the start of the year, since then I've gained 340ish views from it says my analytics page, however there was just one big boom in traffic on the graph and I was wondering if there is a way of almost re-stumbling it into another spike, would I need someone with a lot of followers to stumble it for me to achieve this

Why????
Did any of that spike of visitors actually convert?

I was thinking the same thing.
When you saw the "stumbling spike" in traffic, did you see a corresponding spike in conversions (money made, sales made, ads clicked, etc.)?
If you didn't see a spike in site earnings, you may want to look into other ways to draw traffic to your site.

That would certainly help. Each time you add a new quality blog post, you can try to get it stumbled.

Unfortunately most of the StumbleUpon traffic will react like this.
Unless it's a really viral piece of content that people like and share on all their networks. it's rarely going to gain traction on StumbleUpon.

Wise words that bear repetition. Too many marketeers put their boring sales pitch onto social media, and then wonder why it doesn't take off virally.

From my experience with SU, restumbling the same content will not get you the spike in traffic again. In order to get the same or even a bigger spike, you should have an authoritative stumbler (somebody with has stumbled, thumbed up and commented a lot) to thumbs up your page. But in order to do this and gain traction, your content needs to be very good like what others have mentioned.

I am not very much familiar with Stumbleupon. I have account there though. I have uploaded five pages so far. Most hit I received per page is 4!!! After reading your article (You said you gained 340 views!), I think something I am not doing right. I am really not sure how can I bring traffic from my Stumbleupon account. Stumbleupon PR is now 8. When I created an account there it was PR 7 (Like 2 months ago). Are they really good for bringing traffic to our blogs?

What exactly has the SGB number of StumbleUpon's root URL got to do with sending traffic???????????
AND WHY does ANYBODY want completely useless "traffic" using WASTING data transfer and server resources?
There is absolutely nothing to be gained from StumbleUpon visitors, I do not know of anyone who has had conversions from StumbleUpon visitors.

Errgg... I actually have. I submitted my debate site there, received thousands of hits, and I'd get 4 or so new users out of it.
Low conversion rates compared to other methods, but I have had results.

Agreed with you that conversion rate of traffic from SU sucks but I think many CPM ad-based websites (you know, those that made you click 10 times to finish an article that can be shown in a single page ) would love to have the traffic.

Well every time when you stumble a post and you have good number of followers, you get a good amount of hits/traffic. But remember all those people open that page, click on like or Thumbs up button and leave the page (majority of them do so). So for raising in traffic its a good thing but remember that if you are running a site which offer some products and you want people to purchase them, then go search engines. As you will get more serious customer there, You need to rank your keywords on search engine in order to get real benefit.
If you just interested in raise traffic of your blog. Stumbling is the best option
Thanks

that's right! It was fun to use it before because you can share your post to your friends easily and vice versa...

Oh, you wicked old cynic! Perhaps some good and decent people want to provide a free public service to their visitors, rather than just counting filthy lucre.
