I don't think you need a lot of followers on twitter. maybe 100 then just @mention people and #tag your niche/ keywords

Sites like twiends are a massive waste of time, and they are really only for people who want to look like they have more followers. As has been mentioned already what is the point of 1000 followers who couldn't care less about your tweets?

The only reason they're following you is to be part of the twiends exchange.

I did use twiends and other similar site's to build my twitter account, ended up having over 5000 followers. But a link tweeted does not get even a single click. Hence my advice is to avoid such websites and concentrate on building your follower count naturally.

I think it is not a good way out... It's better to build followes naturally. Just tweet interesting news, urgent information, share your knowledge + time will get you the real golden followers.
