Right Kinds of Links?
|
Posts: 51

I am just wondering what are the so-called "right links" that we should build for our sites generally? If doing article directory submissions, social bookmarking, forum posting, or some other common link building methods don't work anymore, then what's the right thing to do to build links that will bring traffic and sales?

A link is a link. That's all there is too it. Any link can bring traffic and sales.

The "right kinds of links" are links that are likelier to bring users who want to convert to your site, regardless of the PR of the site they're built on.
This means knowing your audience, and building links on sites that make sense to have links to your site.

I absolutely agree with this!!! 1 million percent!!!
But from a pure SEO standpoint, the right kind of link is probably a relevant do follow link preferrably on a site with a higher PR than yours.
I still think illbzo1 is right on target though.

I wish I could give you another negative talkupation... unfortunately I can't because I've already given you one for spitting out other false statements.

Wow, no need to be rude.
I thought forums were meant for people to express different things and differences of opinion.
From what I've read, I've seen a lot of recommendations saying you should use relevant do follow links. But I agree with illbzo1's statement that any link that brings traffic to your site is a good link. Getting quality traffic to your site and conversions are the ultimate end goal (in my opinion).
Do you care to elaborate on what you've disagreed with and why you disagree with it? I'd be glad to discuss it.
Thanks.

It's not rude at all. That's a system this forum has, you made a bad/wrong post, so I was informing you about it. It was fact based.
Forums are for that, but when you are going to help someone, don't give them the wrong information. Your opinion is wrong.
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DO FOLLOW
Feel free to discuss that. I visit this forum a lot, I'll check this thread for your next reply.

In the end it is very basic. The "right" links in the moment are ones from authority sites, with a lot of thrust, preferably inside of an article. You can get it with good content, and strong brand and image building.

All links that do not violate any rules in SEO. Preferably natural links.

I wonder when it will be that most of you work out that it is NOT the links themselves that count???

I appreciate you guys verifying that there are no do follow links. That must mean all links are no follow then according to the posts above?
Thanks.

Wong. A nofollow attribute can be ADDED. It's not a given that's its a "dofollow" if it doesn't have the OPTIONAL nofollow attribute.
There is no dofollow attribute, period. It doesn't exist.

I know a no follow attribute can be added, and there is no do follow attribute. But you posted earlier there are no do follow links at all.

If there are no such things as do follows, wouldn't that only leave no follow links?

No because a "nofollow link" is just a link with a "nofollow" attribute added to it.
If a link is just
Code:
<a href="http://whatever.com">Blah</a>
it's just a link! Google my or may not follow that link, who knows what their bots do/treat all links. That does not make it a "dofollow" just because there is not a "nofollow" attribute. This really isn't a hard concept to understand.

This is where the contradiction came in. You said there is no such thing as a Do Follow:

then you say Google may or may not follow:
If a link is just
Code:
<a href="http://whatever.com">Blah</a>
it's just a link! Google my or may not follow that link
If you had specififed there is no such thing as a do follow attribute, it would have caused less confusion.
I would have agreed right away there is no do follow attribute, but we do hope that Google will follow at least some of our links.
I did a Google Search for "do follow" and came up with about 9,680,000,000 results. So there are some out there who still believe and hope search engines "do follow" some links.
Thanks.
