Loosing PageRank following Penguin

Hi,

I've experience some pageranks drops in some of the pages in my site yesterday and was wandering if anyone else has experience them too.

My domain has a 64 authority (according to OSE) and the pages that lost their PR has page authority between 68-64.

I'm going to start investigating their incoming links to see if there's anything that could have caused this, but I would aprecitate any pointers you could give me or even share your experience with me.

oh and just to set things straight. I'm not as concerned about the actual page rank decrease but more about it's implications. My experience teaches me that within a month of a pr drop there are also rank drops.

This is a really good idea that your are going to check your backlinks. Please also double check your content & Meta Tags to identify the Keyword staffing.

Yes, content defiantly needs to be checked.
It seems like most of the articles about Penguin are talking about over optimizing as being bad. It's totally in my check list.

But I'm also trying to see if there had been a destinctive pattern of page rank changes in the past 2 days or if it's just specifically on my site.

Also, would be great if anyone can give recommendations about any further analysis you think is in place.

I agree with you that the page rank on its own has no use.
But I'm not referring to it as a target, but more as a variable that indicates how Google relates to my page.

From my experience, if page A had PR 4 and then dropped to PR 0, it will also lose its rankings within a month or so.

Let's call it an alert Google gives you before kicking you the hell out

SGB PR is only updated once in a while so the PR you think the URL had, probably dropped weeks before , maybe even a couple of months before.

The two events are NEVER related, and "checking rankings" is useless.

in order to great the position again you need to change your source page. add new description in your home page. For directory submission and article submission use the home page description and for other SMO, SBO, Blogs put different description for posting and the ranking will again regain.

I agree, perhaps you have used a bad link building strategy and in the past you have submitted your website to directories with bad reputation. Google does not like link farms at all!

"I've experience some pageranks drops in some of the pages in my site yesterday and was wandering if anyone else has experience them too."

May be some of your inbound links got deleted. I have found this symptoms in some blogs. At first they don't approve your blog comment.. Then after 15 days or so they approve you comment..... You felt relieved and gave a green color to that link back...But after 1 month or so Blog Admin deleted your comment without providing you any news/information.!! That's the Bajuka.... It's happening in big blogs..... So keep link building till the end of your website!!!

Wish you will not see the fall!

What I think is, PR is not related to Penguin update in any manner. PR might have been updated by Google, because of which your blog's PR got changed and you are seeing the real or changed PR now.
