I had a question, what do you think the most links you should point at a site at a time is? I have built up a nice network of blogs etc, and have a couple of new sites i put up the other day. I was wondering what you all think the best practice is for linking to these sites?

What would be your approximate guess as to maximum number of pr2-4 links that should be pointed at a site in a period of time, 1 week, 1 month etc.

Why would you limit yourself? Also, how does Search Engine Optimization tie into this at all?

Think about it, during the dumb Kony2012 viral thing, did Youtube put a limit on the amount of links people should be linking into Youtube????

Well there has to be some sort of limit to what a site can take/benefit from before it gets sandboxed.

since when was backlinking not covered in the SEO section.....

Nope. If you spam, and you create a problem for the internet, you can be banned from Google (or other search engines). But we're not spamming... are we? And we're not only worried about Google... are we?

Links are advertising, promoting. Not optimizing. There is no optimizing links...therefor it in no way is a part of search engine optimization.

cool man, they are definitely not spam, so i will go nuts with one of the sites and see what happens. I have been kind of wanting to try that for awhile. I can be patient if I must, but I would like to just blast one to see what happens.

Is this forum just for onsite optimization now?

Curious as to "going nuts" means. Are you using bots, or just posting links in blog comments?

This forum is apparently for "online business". This is just the SEO part of the forum. I believe the marketing section is better suited for this. It doesn't matter though.

these links would be from blogs I have that are high-ish (pr2-4) blogs with minimal outbound links, they would be posted in the form of guest posts.

1month will be better than 1 week for sure I think, from my mind for several site made before, never mind about the quanity, even you put only some high quality links monthly, that will be more helpful than you put your focus on them every day.. i got some sites with only few links but still have a good listing on google.

If you believe , the links are relevent . You can always link. do not limit your links . There is no such actual limit

You cannot measure this, i guess. but if you do link to too many spam sites, then, you have a problem there. for as long as you build links to the most relevant sites and websites with authority, there won't be any problem...but in reality, getting such kind of links are not easy. you have to build credibility first, then you get natural / organic links

Try to get link from relevant sites and slowly increase link-velocity. It would be helpful for your website.
e.g. first week 5links
2nd week 8links
3rd week 12 links and so on....

What you probably mean is acceleration (rate of change upwards) or maybe δv/δt ( dv /dt) taken from calculus and used in electronics to signify the instantaneous rate of voltage change over time.

However; "how fast" you get links doesn't matter as much as "where from" does now.

If you are going to take links from PR sites like pr2-pr4, then weekly 5-6 links are fine from those sources. Apart from this you can do submit one article on weekly basis at 25-30 article submission sites, do 40-50 directory submissions etc.

submit only at high pr and quality directories, SE doesn't like spam more and more go to directoryroll and vmoptions and find good one.

Google's recent search ranking algorithm update (penguin) has came up with several things i.e. mainly to down the over optimized websites by looking into their backlinks (if they are unnatural). So, try build the natural links by adding some dofollow links and direct links (not with the keywords/anchor texts).

i read about from some where don't know exactly but according to them (not mine statement LOL) you can build 300 back links per month and if you cross this limit in a month then ur site consider as a spammer or OVER SEO site and then u can find it in sandbox man

It's complete garbage.

The "sandbox" never actually never existed (even in 2005) and the effect that became known as the "sandbox" went away in 2009!
