Hi Guys
I had a stand alone html website that had quite good Google rankings etc.

I have now moved to an Open Cart shopping cart.
Will it be easier to get good Google rankings on this as well ?

Eg on a cart it is not so easy to have lots of useful text on a page.

I do not see why not. If you wan want to have same pages on your cart, you can set proper redirects.
There is no difference for Google if it is static or dynamic page. Google looks at final page HTML

Interesting you brought that up. I always thought Google is looking for a lot of content - and wondered how e-commerce sites faired in the SERPs.

What creates and serves the documents to user agents has ABSOLUTELY NO bearing at all on how a URI will "rank" in Google SERPs.
