My blog gets no love from the search engines. Have a look. PR 0, the bots visit once a month, it's withering on the vine. It's also been an experiment, how well can content alone with no promotion work? The answer is that blogs aren't a magical silver bullet to page 1.

Heck, if there's any magic to get you top rankings its to pick obscure keywords. They you can show everybody how you rank for "kwijibo". (A Kwijibo is "A fat, balding north-american ape" as coined by Bart Simpson to get out of a stupid game of Scrabble.)

You mean my link to your blog isn't the magic bullet either? That makes me a sad panda.

Depends on who ou ask Analiza. I think blogs are a great way to promote your site, but like Adam says it's not an automatic silver bullet to ranking well. If you have garbage for content and move it to a blog it's still garbage.

If you have writing ability or can get people with that ability to write for you and you understand how to make a blog work then you can connect with other bloggers and build links to your posts as well as network with people who can help you.

I do think a blog can be a great source of marketing, but it's still a lot of work.

I assume you mean 3-way link exchanges. If so then no I don't think it's a good way to build traffic. It's just another scheme designed to manipulate ranking and chances you'll get discovered in time and the links won't carry any weight.

SEO isn't about quick fixes or tying to place keywords in exactly the right place. There are certainly manipulative practices that will work in the short run, but if you have to ask how they work you probably will do more harm than good if you try to implement them.

Think of seo as general marketing. Build something good and then promote it. Understand what search engines are looking for so you can make sure not to stand in their way. If you look for the one or two tricks that will bring in all your traffic you're heading down the wrong path from the start.

blogs helps your main site to gain links like one-way link, reciprocal links, or even three-way links. of course you need to link from the blog to your main site to this link building process. be sure to regularly update the blog and provide quality content on it in order to be a quality link to your main site.
