Since I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who has noticed this, I'm going to post this as a public callout of sorts. The reason it's in the SEO Talk forum is because it's the only forum "these people" (I'm still convinced it's one person on proxies) use.
Every time an SEO topic is created, it almost seems like it's only a matter of time before the "experts" plugging the latest Batman or Hulk Hogan Rock 'N' Wrestling DVD (by the way, I'm a WWE fan but that cartoon just sucked) chime in with the same useless advice; it's usually along the lines of "gather links from high PR sites and make sure to use good anchor text for the link too". None of them ever point out aspects such as unique content or earning organic links or building something of use to visitors or examining site navigation or the myriad of other issues that exist within a site; it's always "links, links, links and throw in a few PR references too."
Seriously, you guys need to change your tune and quick. The violin strings are wearing out.
