And for the record, this is a different question than whether you're indexed in any particular engine. They can "crawl" ( ie read ) your web site, and decide not to add it to to their index. If that's happening, you want to find out why. Although I've read Google will only index one page a day for new sites, to keep spam in check. So depending how new your site is, the whole thing might not be indexed yet, and that wouldn't be cause for alarm.
There are three basic "states" your site can go through: Google doesn't know about it, Google knows you but doesn't like you, or they know you and have you in their regular index, and let their math decide where you come out when people do searches. Finally, depending on what data center you hit, you might get yesterday's results.
So as long as you're clear on the distinctions, the advice to look at what bots are visiting your site is a really good idea.
