Hi there,

I made my page say as domain.com listing any link to other domain that contains certain link back to domain.com

Do search engines dislike it?

If so, why?

If you mean exchanging reciprocal links for the sake of reciprocity, yes. It's considered an abuse of the algorithm portions that take inbound link quality into account (e.g. Google PageRank) and not helpful to the end user (which is an SE's basic goal...provide the best information possible to the end user.)

Link exchanges also have a tendency to trap naive webmasters into linking to sites they wouldn't or shouldn't otherwise link to.

The question I have is...from a purely user standpoint, why would you want to do this?

Search Engines really don't "care" who you link to or why, they don't care if the links are reciprocal or not.

What they "care" about are methods or techniques used in an attempt to make sites appear more "important" than they are.
Going in for the "link exchange with anything and everything" is more likely to bring your pages (and the other parties) into the firing line. And it won't matter in the slightest whether the pages you exchanged with are "relevant" or not. To the SE algos it's SPAM and will be treated as such.

This is why the answer is always, use reciprocal links by all means. BUT do not link for the presumed SE benefit because it may not be there tomorrow (or next week). Link to pages you are happy to send your visitors to, and get links from pages that could send you visitors. That way you can never be wrong.

If you mean link exchange, I suggest that you choose quality links and a trusted link. Search engines doesnt mind if it is reciprocal link or link with value or not. But it is important that you choose the trusted link with high page rank, quality content and will increase traffic. Link exchange can just add link popularity for the site.

Yes, this is a very good point.
A lot of people just think that if it is a link exchange, it is automatically bad.

I think reciprocal link is not bad as long as you would linkback to trusted site with quality content and related to your site.

Here we go again, forget "related", forget "trusted site" when linking out.

There is only one criteria

Link to pages you would be happy to send visitors to!!!!

&
http://www.highrankings.com/forum/in...dpost&p=241954 actually on a different topic but is relevant to any kind of linking.
