as far as SEO goes is it a good idea to have different page titles for each of your pages on your site or should you use the same title / header info?

For both SEO and more importantly for your users, different page titles/header info.

The titles and either meta descriptions or body copy (depending on the term) are what SEs display in their results. So varying them makes sense if only to try and attract more users via different keywords.

i agree with Adam...it is good that you have different title/header that is relevant to the page and contains your targeted keyword for SERPs but don't over use it...and it should be descriptive for the page for the users...we have to optimize our site not only for SEs but for the visitors...

I'll go further and say it's essential to have unique page titles and meta descriptions on every page of your site. Meta keywords though are mostly irrelevant and you don't really need them. You can use them, but if you spend more than a minute on them per page you've wasted your time.

It depends, if you plan on marketing for more then one keyword which most sites do.... Its very smart and your best move. Especially if those pages are ranked and are listed.

does it matter how long a title is
and should it not be cluttered with keywords

I know the keywords shouldn't repeat within title tags

is this ok for tiltle?

Matt if you're asking about the page titles for the sites in your signatures they look fine. They could be improved, but they're not too long at all and the amount of keywords seems fine. You could get rid of words like 'by'

Your granite countertops page could be:

Granite Tile Countertops | Cupon Custom Tile and Paint

The 'by' instead of the | is probably ok though.

As for the meta description it's a good idea to have a unique one on every page. Write them more for people than search engines, but repeat the keywords you used in your page title and maybe a variation of those keywords.

So for the same page maybe something like:

Add a splash to your kitchen with a new granite tile countertop. Cupon custom tile and paint will install your choice of natural stone countertops in the Charlotte, NC area.

I'm sure that can be improved, but it's late and I'm a bit tired and hopefully it's enough to give you the idea.

I like to write two short sentences and start them with an action verb when I can and you do want to make them unique on every page.

I'll change descriptions and titles a bit

my google analytics is all out of order when I look for good keywords to use
cus for the last week I've been googling 80 different phrases

I'll make changes

and wait couple weeks to see results

wish google ranks changed by the day

or at least by the week

Hi Matt, Be sure not to just do different page titles, run each page through a analyzer to ensure the relevancy between the different page titles and each pages content. If you have completely UN relevant titles it will make the SE's not see it as importantly.

If you need to run your page through an analyzer in order to know whether the page title and meta description is relevant to your page copy I think you have a lot more issues to worry about than how well your pages rank in a search engine.

you have a link seokit?

searched tilte description relevancy analyzer
but couldn't find nuffin

I'm pretty sure our pages have relevance in title and description

don't know, you tell me:

http://www.cupantileandpaint.com/index.html

http://www.cupantileandpaint.com/contact.html

http://www.cupantileandpaint.com/interior_painting.html

http://www.cupantileandpaint.com/services.html

http://www.cupantileandpaint.com/mosaic_tile.html

just a few
but are title and description tags good
got to bump this site up to #1 in more searches than "tile contractor charlotte"

sick of paying 200 a month for google adwords

rather be at top in the end users searches without the adwords
it can happen

Sorry, but if you think you need an analyzer to tell you if your page title is about the same thing that your page copy is about then you're really going about seo the wrong way.

SEO is not about trying to match everything you can perfectly on a page. If fact if you do you're possibly flagging yourself as having over optimized your page.

Did you write your page copy? If you did then you should already know whether it's a page about dog grooming or granite countertops.
