I think email subscriptions are a little old technology. Legacy of web 1.0 u know. RSS is in. Since email is missused more often for spamming, people hesitate opening your emails. But again, there are people who still trust email and newletters.

I don't use it to promote a thing, unless someone contacts me on it first.

Then again, I don't have to.

Yeah people who have blogs can use feedburner to get their users to sign up to their emails. that way they get updates each time you post in their email. This is slightly better that feeds because users check their emails regularly.

I've never read subscription letters. I've never taken look at spam letter. I don't like such tehnology.

I tried it too. But not to increase Traffic but to increase Sales. I used "Press Blaster" to make sure that i will be sending who have same Niche as mine.
