Ok gang I've got a question to see if you guys can help me with.

I currently run a website that is wespreadtheword.net and I want to get it to the #2 page of google. My site is currently the 2nd from the top of page #3 . Any suggestions what I can do to change my site to move it further up?

lol yes sorry I was at work and forgot. the term I'm focusing on is christian search

Here are a few things you could do...

Place a paragraph or two of text somewhere on the page that explains a bit about the site and why it's a good site for Christian Search. Use the keyword phrase a few times in the text.

Change the link in the footer that reads "Home" to "Christian Search" or "Christian Search Home"

Try to get some links from the other sites that show up in Google ahead of yours for Christian Search.

Emory7 has solved your problem anchor text is very important

I actually made no changes and today I showed up on the 2nd page. Now I'm making my run to make it to the top of it and onto the 1st page for the term christian search

If i am not wrong you two missed to mention Meta tags and robot.txt
it would be more specific if you use target key words in your title as well as your content.
keep in mind regular update is very inportant. you must update your site regularly in order to achieve gook ranking on google.

Meta tags and robots.txt have NOTHING this topic AT ALL

This is just another myth. there are sites that haven't been changed in years that still rank highly

If your content needs some changes the do so. But changing or updating content because you think that it makes a difference for SEO is just plain dumb.

Thanks For correcting me Christ. This is how i would clear up my doubts.

Submit your site in different directories.

per google they show us with 9610 inbound links and yahoo! shows 3410 inbound links. Another site ranked higher than mine with less of the key words and less inbound links. I wish I knew how that happens.

We're listed in alot of the directories already

Because,

Everybody thinks quantity of links = better ranking; Wrong

Looking at link counts for competing sites tells you absolutely nothing.
