Jason I'm assuming the site with all those backlinks is the one in your sig and profile. Just curious, but how are you measuring backlinks? Yahoo is showing about 7,200 backlinks to your domain right now. Not quite 145,000.

While the link above has some good information I'd hardly call submitting to free directories cutting the story short. You're pretty much missing most of what the article is about.

Hi,

Back links are good but why you need 5000? Some quality and relevant links will do it for you. Suppose you get those links in quick time, it is also harmful in the eyes of search engines.

And those who are worried too much about PR, I am agree with them. If you get a relevant link from a good article or content page with PR - 0, that is much valuable than a PR - 3 link page with more than 20 links.

Instead of working to get 5000 Bl I'll go to think one month and figure out something that would make people talk about it in blogs and stuff like that. think at usability and quality over quantity.

Google would see 5000 links in a week as being unnatural particularly if in the next week there are no links.

That's assuming of course that the googlebot just happens to crawl all those pages where the links are in that given time period

Because if it doesn't how would any SE know how many links were obtained in a given period ??????????

Link exchange never works with Google. I remember doing some crappy link exchanges for my previous site(which I closed

). I exchanged almost 346 links and most of them are PR 2 or above.

Even though I got some PR5 pagerank, it didn't seem to be enough for google to put my site in the result pages. This is apparently because Google hates exchanging links. But now, I'm following the principle of "SEO is karma" and the miracle is, I got PR4 without even trying to get links.

I never did any link exchange. Never submitted to directories. Never posted excessively on forums just for links. One day when I was updating my site, I saw the pagerank meter, BOOM, it was PR4. I think putting up unique and useful stuff is what really counts. I even got links from Brian Clarks. How cool is that ?

Getting a quality backlink is difficult task, but you can try seo forums where a particular link exchange category is available for posting link exchange request.
Try chatting with webamster they can provide you some gud links.

don't try to get number of link by place one link in your website, major search engine are not support this type of links.

do manual directory submission. and also in directory submission take long time for number of directory. if you want to submit your website in 900 directories. do it more than 30 days it will give clear search engine visibility. i have Manual Directory Submission Business.

great Astro. That was cool. this only means that Not all SEO's understand that focusing to much in a link exchange program, Submit link to different directory is partly and lil bit not working too much. We have to remember the supposedly uniqueness of our content.

If your not looking to spend a lot of money i would use the free backlink option where you can post your URL on a directory website for no cost, your URL may not end up being up on their site, but if it does it was worth not spending money then spending a lot of money.
