If the spider finds unique content on your page for a few key words you can be in the top 10 sites for those words within a few weeks. The down side is that if they are that unique they aren't searched that often. Experience speaking. I think some of my content is 3 or 4 at Google for a few words and I don't even have those pages linked to from my main page. I only referenced them in a couple of usenet postings.

IMO, make sure you have all your meta tags in place, content that is revelant to your title, content and keyword tags and manually submit to the top 20. To spice things up and see some immediate traffic to make you feel better go the FFA route if you like.

Be sure to use an email address you plan to kill for the FFA. I had 450 messages in the one I used.

To answer the question; No I would not pay.

Depends entirly on the keywords and what your doing it for. You can optimize your site with on-page factors and you can get good rankings on Yahoo still but Google no longer puts as high of importance on optimization in fact we are seeing more and more sites that have absolutely no keywords on the page taking the lead in many a tough search.
In other words. If your keywords are not likely to be used that much and most likely nobody has optimized their site for them then yes you should go for it yourself. Try and get some backlinks as with google this is imparitive when looking for a top ten position. Good luck!

Agreed. It depends a lot on how competitive your keywords are. You can see the competition for your keyword easily by typing it into a search engine and seeing how many results are there.

For non-competitive Keywords it's relatively easy to rank well just by optimizing your page. for comptetitve keywords it's going to take time to build quality and relevant links to your site.

Whether or not to hire someone is up to you and how comfortable you feel doing the work yourself. It will take time so be prepared for that and you may decide it makes more sense to spend your time on another part of your business while letting someone else seo the site. Seo isn't or doesn't have to be rocket science. Maybe the hardest part of learning it is getting past all the misinformation about it.

You may still want to learn some seo even if you do decide to hire someone just so you know what questions to ask the companies you talk to and have a better understang of what they're telling you. Maybe give learning for yourself a try. Once you do you'll know better about whether to take it on or hire it out and you'll have acquired some of the knowledge to hire the right company.

Hi i selected my keywords build them up to 100% through a website i use and it was working i got up to 21 for freelance programmers and 65 for freelance programming plus more listings
but then the rankings were out of the top 100 then few days later back there what could be causing this yo-yo of ranking

Also i have always wondered do i use different titles ketwords and description for every page will this get more indexed pages at different rankings for different keywords.

The up and down in your ranking is nothing to be concerned about. Search engines are always tweaking their algorithm or making other changes on their servers and this up and down can be common. Google is in the middle of major updates at the moment and you'll see this kind of change until they're done. Nothing to worry about unless your site never comes back up and then you just have more seo work to do.

Ideally you should optimize each page of your site for 2 -3 keyword phrases. If done right all of your pages will rank high and your site will be found over a variety of keyword phrases.

You want to have unique titles and meta descriptions for each of your pages. As for the meta keyword I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's not really used anymore except maybe for a few lesser search engines. It was too easy to spam to be useful. You can add them if you want, but I wouldn't spend more than a few minutes on them. If you do use the meta keywords make sure to use words that are on that page.
