I am trying to rank a client in a niche - let's call it - "Taming Wild Horses" - he went out and bought a domain name called TamingWildHorses dot com (again, names are made up to protect the innocent ). He has his main site that is totally named something else.

He was wondering if a 301 redirect from TamingWildHorses dot com to his main site have any value from a SEO perspective?

I know that some webmasters sometimes share two or more sites - one is the main site and the other site is smaller but meant for a specific niche.

So what is the best way of going about to do this?

A 301 redirect will only preserve existing "value" from an already well promoted pages or prevent duplication of pages on parked or mirrored sites. The "keyworded" domain name is worthless from an SEO/SEM point of view.

301 redirect is the most efficient and Search Engine Friendly method for webpage redirection. If you have to change file names or move pages around, it's the safest option. The code "301" is interpreted as "moved permanently". URL redirection, also called URL forwarding and the very similar technique domain redirection also called domain forwarding, are techniques on the World Wide Web for making a web page available under many URLs.
