Some people do seem to be worried that if you submit the same article to different directories then you will get some sort of penalty. This isn't the case. The reason is because it's not your site that has the duplicate content. The directories have it (and they can't be suffering too much because they still get a lot of search engine traffic).

The best option, I think, is to submit the article to 3 or 4 high PR, high traffic directories. Then you'll get some clicks directly, and you'll get good SEO benefit. You might also get your articles published on other sites by those looking through the directories for content. That means still more backlinks.

But spend most of your time writing new content if you can, not submitting the same stuff repeatedly. It's unique content that Google loves most, after all.

Actually, SEO cannot be defined. So, It is more adviseable to follow all the available methods to get TOP on google. However, I am pretty sure that, Article submissions will give us more value and good output. I used to submit one article for about 5-8 sites & From one site, I used to get about 5-10 links (Via different 5-10 articles). That really works fine for me.
