Well yes if you want to get an idea about the traffic than alexa is okay. But I do not think that you will rely on their statistics, If visitors have installed alexa tool bar than you will get higher alexa rankings.

But however I do feel that this one will give you rough idea about traffic to your site.

Not really. Alexa gives inaccurate traffic stats. It's a crap.

i don't focus to alexa ranking that much...

it is useless, even you can rise alexa rank by means of alexa rank raiser. search in google for more info.

Alexa is showing traffic of your website nothing else

Exactly right! Alexa is not that important it just shows the stats that people who visited your site...

for me, alexa rank is useless. sometimes alexa rank will be good and sometime it will be too low.

Alexa Ranking can be manipulated. So I don't much focus on this. If your site gets high Alexa Ranking, it only shows that your site has greater number of visitors that have installed Alexa Toolbar..

I think Alexa ranking is more important than Google PR.
Because Alexa records the number of hits to a website, whereas Google PR is based on the number of back links !
So what would you rather have lots of hits or lots of backlinks from maybe some useless websites ?
And I don't think you have to have Alexa installed to get counted.

Alexa rank is the rank which depends upon the traffic to your site. So if you have more traffic to your site than your alexa rank is increases. Currently Google is on top position in alexa rank.

For me Alexa is not important because as it shows us the site popularity. Say my website users does not install alexa toolbar then how will it fetch the data from that computer. It only shows he data where alexa has been installed.

Not all people have Alexa toolbar installed. Google's PR is the raw output of the all the people's searches, so it is better to rely on Google's PR rather than Alexa rankings.

In the end, who really knows. I've seen a lot of ppl in here disagree w/ each other. Seems like to each their own.

Alexa rank is not accurate. When I compare all my sites (visitors vs alexa rank) I just know they way of the mark. So in my opinion it's not important. I prefer Quantcast!

Alexa rank is crap. It doesn't show the popularity of a site at all. I have two sites. One gets more traffic than the other and more page views per unique visit but Alexa ranks the one that gets less traffic higher
