IMO, on-page optimization is process of optimizing a website regarding its codes, meta tags and other inside stuff of a website. On the other hand, off-page optimization is a process of optimizing a website... outside. Some call it link building.

• press release submission

• promotional ads

On-page SEO are focusing on the on-page elements, such as Unique title tags, H1s/headlines, Copywriting, Adding descriptions to images, Crawlable links and Internal navigation while Off-site SEO, focuses on things beyond your website, such as Press releases, Link building, Advertising and Social media.
