You can't "build" REAL link "popularity". You have to earn it. Sure you can fake it by link begging, submitting to every directory in sight, spamming the "bookmarking" sites, sig link posting "Nice Site", "I agree", "Great post" etc at every forum you can find etc etc, but it's low value stuff.

Link popularity is just like real world popularity. Fairly easy to fake, but to make it real takes a bit of work on your part.
