It depends on how competitive your target keywords are. I would say you can get real traffic once your site is already ranked within the top 10 in SE. And that requires dedicated time and effort in quality linkbuilding.

Submit to directories, get backlinks, seo with good keywords... all take time to build traffic. Just be patient and the traffic will come. Don't stop promoting your website and advertise it every chance you get. Remember PR does not necessarily mean more traffic. But to answer your question of how long can that take... these guys are right. It really DOES depend. What does it depend on?

Market for which you are advertising
Keywords you are using
How many backlink hits you are getting (are you submitting to the right places?)

If you see even the smallest change in your traffic, consider this a step foward.

I can wait only for 3 to 6 month otherwise i use other strategy.

It depends on the work you have done. Quantity as well as quality. Choose the keywords niche of your site having searches and less competition. Put unique content on your site. Build quality backlinks. Do social bookmarking, directory submission, blog commenting, Post your signature in forums. Please do not spam.

It actually depends on the back links/inbound links that you are getting.. If you are getting more quality of back links then it helps you increase the amount of traffic..

It depends on the content and the optimization of your website. If your website has gone through good SEO you can see the results soon otherwise you might end up dumb and deaf. So the more SEO you do the more better and sooner you will get the results but never stop SEO even after positive output. Remember SOE is an ongoing process.

It really took me 2 months to see the regular traffic, and the process is suffering.

About six months. The company I work for was marketing six or seven websites symultaneously, though, so that's quite an achievement...

you do it right you can get indexed overnight....i think i may add social bookmarking into my sig...just the words...i may even include RSS...but i do not want to go crazy

I was wondering the same thing... I've had my site for 2 months and have been working on it everyday. I'm working on backlinks and trying to get all my pages indexed.

if you use google sitemaps you can get your pages indexed in a few weeks and if you can update your sitemap automaticly its even faster I would do an update every few days...social bookmarking can get your pages indexed overnight if its a hot topic fresh content...backlinks are good if the site that is backinking gets quality indexing....forum posts with good keyword titles can also get your site indexed....

Things to know
no dynamic content...no redirects...lots of html pages with spider friendly URLs...good meta tags and descriptions...original content...updated all the time..no RSS feeds or autoblogs unless you know what your doing..NO SPAM!!


Getting traffic...thats a different story all together...

i think there is no specific time, it all depends on some factors like how well optimized your site pages are, content and much work you've done to your site. building traffic takes a lot of time and effort.

It doesnt have a time. Its just a matter of `how well do you work and promote for your site?` If you can do hardwork for promoting and updating then you can get a real traffic in no time.

You can have it instantly if you do the rights things. If you done your keyword research the right way then you can utilize it on high traffic sites and can rank within days or better yet, hours.

Sites like hubpages, scribd and squidoo can do some of the keywords to rank within a short period. Considering article directories, they can't rank that quickly but once it ranks on the fisrt page, it will stick there for a long time.

It all depends on form of traffic. If you are targeting paid advertising then you dont have to wait for traffic. You can buy it instantly.

If you are targeting free SEO traffic you might have to wait for a while before you see any traffic.

If you are looking for referal traffic you may again have to wait and work hard to get the traffic.

I agree don't wait for the real traffic . Work on you site make it better lower the bounce rate....Submit content, make links, blog post etc. Real Traffic will come automatically........
