You know, I still don't know if I'd be the biggest fan of Flash even after it's fully indexable by search engines. It still puts everything on one page, which makes your back button basically useless. I like the REST philosophy of everything on the web having its own URL. Flash is also proprietary, although I suspect that Adobe might open source it sometime soon. Even then, though, you'll need a few open source editors.

All that said, Flash has quite a few advantages too. It has great persistence across platform. I think I read a statistic that something like 95% of computers have a current version of Flash installed on them. That's why most online videos are in Flash format. Flash can also be good for banners and rotating images. I also wouldn't mind trying to develop an AIR app with it.

That's the exact reason I have Flash installed. For a while I didn't, as not having Flash is a great ad blocker, but to watch YouTube and the like, I added Flash and AdBlock Plus.

Here is what I think. It's all about money. After Adobe aquired Macromedia Flash, they began teaming up with SE's as a result of Flash not being purchased and/or utilized by their largest market...webmasters...who avoid it (as I do) for 2 main reasons.
1. Flash has always been ignored by SE's
2. Slow download times
The second isn't such a big issue today with DSL and cable connections growing and dial-up decreasing, but the biggest issue (#1) has been a constant problem for them...until the changes are made.

Now all the pages are cached by Google whether it is flash or long dynamic URL.

That would be nice for websites completely in flash. People out there will not have to choose html over flash anymore.

I have massive respect for Adobe, but Flash really isn't something that I give much consideration to with my web projects.

I think most people are lucky to be one of two things; a great developer, or a great designer. To be both is extremely rare. And I think to make Flash truly worthwhile, you have to be a great designer - or have one at your disposal.

I'm an average designer and I don't want to cough up what'd be necessary to pay someone for a good Flash based site - especially not until this search engine technology improves dramatically.

I would consider this isn't going to make much of a difference for sometime to come. It will be like everything else you adapt and move on.
