Manual directory submission is a waste of time unless it's a highly specialized directory like hotscripts.com that can drive targeted traffic to your site. General directories won't give you a great amount of traffic. When was the last time you searched a general directory? The only directories I would even bother submitting to are DMOZ and the Yahoo Directory (if I wanted to spend the money), and that's only because of the effect they might give me in the search engine rankings because they are tied to Google and Yahoo. The only search engines that are worth "submitting" to are Google, Yahoo, and Live. Anything else isn't worth it and most of the other major search engines from the past get their results from one of those three.

If you're paying for manual submission, you're wasting your money. These guys use automated scripts to do the majority of the work (and you could too, if you wanted to). Submission to any directories or search engines of value shouldn't take you more than 15-20 minutes and (excluding the Yahoo Directory) it's free.

Good point. Me too.

It's very hard to get listed in DMOZ. I understand it can be useful, but since it's done by volunteers, if you're trying to get listed in a category that has no volunteers, Good luck! Volunteer yourself for your specific category and maybe you can get listed.

Why don't you try to make something good in the business section rather than here.

Btw coming to the topic, i think better content leads to links automatically if you are doing it in a blog. And also directory submission is one of the tiny parts in link building. It is not the only best way to build links.
