Yea Friend,

Dmoz will help Sure for your business site, but Getting listed by DMOZ will take a Long time in most of Cases. You'll be far better off paying the fee to Yahoo.

If you do submit a request to DMOZ, do so only once.

Most of the .edu links will just be crappy student pages anyway. so I guess, it wont much help you.

and Depends on your quality content for Wiki..

Thanks
Samepaul

Do you think buying links on yahoo will give you a good rankings in all major SE's? good conversion of traffic and can generate profits? if so.. then go.. But my friend once tried to buy link in yahoo but it does not give him a great result. Remember that 75% of searchers are using google, so if i were you better work hard on SERP rankings in google, but still 25% relies on any other SE's. (give also time for that)

About DMOZ, As what I've encountered and noticed, they delay to approve those site that goes for free inclusions, Well i think if you wanna get listed in DMOZ, go for paid inclusions.

what about the .EDU, .GOV, links? what are they good for?
Good for what?

lastly how to get listed on wikipedia?

Oh well, better build good site with quality content as well..

There is no "paid inclusion" for DMOZ. In fact submitting is pretty much a pointless task.
There are FAR more sites included in the ODP listing by editors finding them than are included in the submissions queue.
Some editors will simply dump their queue without even looking at it, as the chance of finding gold in the general dross is somewhere between slim and none.

Wikipedia is using nofollow for the external links. You must have quality content to get link from wikipedia.

Dmoz and Yahoo are the main directories and we should submit our website in it. Dmoz could take more than 3 months even 6 months too. So better pay to yahoo and purchase your listing.

Gov and Edu link will play an important role and you will get PR juice because these are trustable websites, but to get link from these websites you have again good quality content and it should match with these websites. Then you will get link in free.

Since it takes very long to get listed in DMOZ, I'd consider paying yahoo for my link.

Like you, I also would like to know how to get listed to wikipedia...
