I've been reading quite a bit of material on Google recently and I've personally come to the conclusion that sooner rather than later, search engines such as google will almost dismiss the current SEO techniques used today with a couple exceptions. I would think that Keyword rich content, Titles, links etc are and will always be very important, but the older Google gets possibly 99.999% of it's results will be based on content and interaction only? Think about the difference from 2001 to 2006 and how much less value h2 tags etc give to SEO now. (this is all of course an assumption).

Question-!

My question is, from what you all know, is it really worth the time to label images and make sure h1 h2 tags etc are labeled with Keywords ?? and if so what % would you give to the "tried and true techniques" ? At this point I think it's still important enough to spend some time on, but what do you all think??

Thank you for your input!

When I am building a new site or modifying one, if I happen to think of an SEO technique while I am working I go ahead and implement it. But I don't go out of my way to spend a whole day on SEO or anything like that. I focus pretty much exclusively on adding quality content, doing the seo to the best of my ability as it comes but not spending too much time on it.

I'm with you, OP. Googlebombing is a good example of SEO without having content at all, and Google cracked down on it. It's far too easy to rank #1 without being the #1 website quality-wise and I think we'll see this slowly eroding.

Yes,agreed with you.
Contents are the "King".

But it maybe difficult to get quality content now,
and I think it is another choice if making the site more funny.

I also agree...a quality website that is content-rich is just as, if not more, important than its SEO.

However, combining strategies for both and implementing them simultaneously will provide you with the best results. You will get an increase of traffic through your SEO efforts and you will be able to maintain traffic because of your site's content!

Best,

I don't think it's important to do all that stuff at all. Think about it. Why spend time optimizing alt attributes, keyword density and all the other technical irrelevancies when at the end of the day a few links has way more value? Why spend 20 hours tweaking your technical stuff when you could spend 10 minutes getting a link that has 10 times the value? The technical stuff is only going to be less and less important.

From my experience links control like 50% of my rankings. A couple links can move you from #90 to #5. Why worry about anything else when all that does is move you from #90 to #89?

Google-wise all that matters these days is mad links, content, titles and domain. Everything else has such little weight it's not even worth worrying about.

Yahoo and MSN are another story and still care more about that stuff but still weight it small.

Yes, relevant information and content always remain center of any site. I don't think it will change in future. May be techniques changes but content remain crucial.

at least mobile search engines results are based on each user preferencences, which are monitored. So for similar search results will be different based on user. so you could be no 1 in your search because you are always clicking to your site but not anyones elses search.

I think the ball game is alway changing. We have to play the current rules and master the game first before we can predict how it evolve.

A good thread to set people thinking.
