Hey all... I want to start by letting you all know I am far from a SEO guru or god.

I have recently been learning alot about SEO. Over a year ago I went to borders books and I sat there for an hour or two just browsing thru a few books on how to achieve high search engine results placement. I wasn't very impressed with what I read while I was there. To me it seemed that the authors of the books must have just thrown alot of rubbish in them with hopes some fool would buy one and they can try to return some profits on the sale of a book that you can rip the pages out of and line the bird cage with!!!! LMFAO Ok I am sure there are some good books out there which contain some helpful information about SEO. I just can't see spending 50-100 bucks on a book when all the answers and help you can possibly need is right here on the web for FREE.

Now in all seriousness....

..... SEO want higher results??

Heres my two cents worth...

1st Make a plan.
What is your site about?
Who is it that will visit your site?
Who is it or what target of audience do you want to attract?
What type of content is on the site.

Also check out marketleap.com you can use the keyword verification on there as well as a link popularity check. Very very useful.

The best way I have found to get higher results on SERP's is stupid but hey what can I say it is FREE! More importantly.... IT works don't take my word for it do it for yourself and see. You might not be first on the first page of all search engines but this should help improve your rank if you are far from the first page.

First make sure the content on your site and the coding of your site is Optimized for search engines...

Make sure you have the appropraite meta tags.

Include a summary and title tag on all your tables. The table title and summary is something the robots do pick up.

Make sure all your images have alt tags with a description about the image.

Name a page or two after your keywords...
Example:If you manufacter or sell tshirts name the products page tshirts.php or html. Sounds stupid but it helps.

Make sure your keywords and description meta tags do not exceed 70 characters.

Include your main keyword in the page title first.
Example:<title>Keyword - tshirtsrus.com - we sell t shirts</title>

Here is the best way to pick the keywords you should use.

Ok you sell t shirts...
Go to goggle.com and search for t shirts. look the the top 5 whats the difference between the keywords they list? Notice things like this.
Do the same thing on yahoo, MSN, LYCOS...

I can almost gaurantee if you pick your keyword and go to google.com and do a search for your keyword. Then use the keywords from the top few sites combined for your site and you have your site content and coded for SEO you should pull your rank to page number 1. Unless it is a redicilous keyword like SEX!!! OOOps was I allowed to say that on here??
Oh no your virgin eyes... LOL ha ha ha..

More importantly I personally am not too worried about SEO and SERP's. I have learned that you do not need high ranks on the search engines to have high traffic. This is the world wide web. There are millions upon millions of resources right here at our fingertips...

I might not be playing a guitar with 6 strings but I can tell you this. I am currently getting roughly 100-150 emails a day thru my quite stupid way of marketing. The odd thing is that I am trying to finish a website for myself and I am not pulling as many emails as I could. I could easily generate over 200-300 emails a day if I put just 2 hours a day into my odd marketing strategies.

I am not worried about SEO because the bottom line is you can always bid on the click to be listed on the first page as a sponsored ad! I, personally feel it is much more important to be able to get your url out to as many people as you can that have an interest in your sites content.

The way I found alot of this information out was by going to google and other search engines and doing searches for over populated and saturated keywords like sex, money, cars, realestate... etc. Then I would visit the sites and look at the content on the sites and I would then take the time to view the source code. I noticed on some of the #1 sites on the #1 page they used some of the keywords for the page names. I have heard many things about how to move your url up in search results. I have tried alot of them and most of the things I heard did not make much of a difference. The things I listed in the initial post for this thread actually do work. Like I said before, if your keyword is an over saturated keyword they may bring you closer to the first page but you may not rank a first page listing. Keep in mind it takes time for the bots to revisit your site and may take some time for the changes to take effect so be patient.

I hope the info I posted above can help a few of you out..
