Acceptable Conversion rate?

Hey guys, what do you view as an acceptable conversion rate for your site? For our company site, we view someone registering for our free newsletter as a conversion. We just recently recalculated our conversion rate and I was wondering how that rate stacks up. I would imagine that it is pretty low, and if it is, I might have the data I need to suggest some design changes. So... what kind of conversion rate do your sites have?

Sign ups for free offers go for between 25% and 50%. Anything above
50% and you're doing very well indeed!

I would say that if you are getting 15% to 20% then you are doing a very good job...

More than 20% then you are doing something excellent...
More than 50% then you are doing something suspicious

Most of the common research on the subject indicates that free offers convert at around 3-5% from PPC campaigns and slightly lower for oraganic SEO. Of course a good free offer can convert at several times this but if you're getting rates of 8, 9 or 10%, you're doing something right.

opt in and freebies sign up stuff..you should be aiming for 30% and abover...however if you getting 30% you doing a really good job.

and if your selling stuff you should be getting about 1% - 3% converstions.

aim for 2% and be realistic. There are freaks out there that I have heard of that can get 5% but like i said in the starting phases you have to be realistic.

1 - 2% is still avererage but to be expected.

I'd love to see an opt-in site that pulls a 30% CTR!

I'd say it's all about your sales technique (interesting copy, friendly attitude, compelling product or service) and not so much what others may say is acceptable.

For your campaign, 25% would be "acceptable" while it would be an incredible conversion rate for another company or site.

Cheers!
