Where do you get most of your backlinks from?

My backlinks come from a variety of sources. I prefer to mix it up a little, so blogs article directories, link directories & forum sigs for the most part.

I do a lot of marketing of articles to the members of my forum and they go out and link them. I also take advantage of myspace and facebook.

Get some of them at forums, social bookmarking site, promotional sites and the rest from search engine, mostly google.

I hate link building..

Are there other ways to increase PR? Personally, I think PR is not important but this particular client wants to upgrade HIS site's PR. Shouldn't have agreed, LOL.
