What caused yahoo's downfall?

Personally, I think it was the fact that their homepage was so cluttered, compared to Google's simple front page, and that kept users away.

in being the best search engine, ya I agree, but Yahoo has many other services also. Google is mainly a search engine, and plus, yahoo's search results aren't that good.

And I think you have to pay a lot to get on yahoo's search engine. For google, its free. (I think)

I think that the clutter has something to do with it also. I think it is free to get into Yahoo's search engine, but it is their directory which is not free (about $300 for a listing).

Yeah yahoo has so many different things and google keeps simple and has lots of search results. Google brings out new ideas that make it more popular. Yahoo has been there for long with the same stuff and people just go to the things with new ideas.

I think yahoo is trying to hard to compete with Google. Since they have the news and music, etc. They should try to find a more enhance way to market it. Making ads like google or copying google is just going to make them more popular.

Google may have had a simple design, but their search results were great. Yahoo is just trying to hard to improve their image and not their work. I guess their pay per click Ads are the only edge they have over Google now.

yahoo is not a search engine it's an annoying advertsing brochure, like the ones given to you on the sidewalk crumpled and thrown away.

I agree with this to some extent, although Yahoo has been decent in the past, before Google was brought to the forefront.

Yahoo has been harboring spammers. even if it has its BULK mail. My yahoo mailbox contains more spam than my personal and official email.

Yahoo has got manny spammy things like yahoo groups /communities and Bulk mails which Dont filter mails correctly.
This all things are adding to yahoo's downfall.

Google is great for the images and adsense. Yahoo is making more profit though than Google. I know google has been trying to reach out and buy media companies lately. I wonder what they are up to?

gooogle was yahoo's downfall i think. Also there site is to spammy and got to much unrelated stuff on it.
