Well most search engines don't use meta tags anymore.

It should also be added that if you do, the fewer the better, it puts more emphasis on the ones that ARE there.

these are not the comprehensive meta tags though.. there are many more lines there for different bot commands, however, as said already, most bots ignore the meta tags key words sections, due to the elevating SPAM and abuse of search engines.

But i would support that the Keywords and Description TAGS are still very important in the View your SE's results come up.
If you dont give Keywords how will you rank in SE's ?

Keywords come from your site content, the meta tags are basically ignored by seacrh engines, they have crawlers that search the CONTENT.

yeah they are like the google bot and all that they just search the content on the site.

Meta tags can be useful, but not for ranking high in search results. Sometimes meta tags are crawled occasionally, I was surprised when a phrase I searched for (in my meta tags) came up.

my site which i did not put any meta tags other than title, does not even have the keyword im aiming for when i did a keyword anlysis on the main page. SAD.

And also google ate just 60MB of mine with 6000 Visits
