DMOZ frustrations

I've submitted my site to DMOZ about 8 months ago, and didn't hear anything from them ever since.

I've heard that re-submitting your site would get you rejected, since it is a duplicate submission, so I don't know whether my site is "pending" or just rejected.

Well my problem is I can't seem to find the 'add url' portion of the site

Same, I submitted my sites about 6 months ago and nothing.. I don't get whats so important being on DMOZ?

Same here I even volunteered as one of the editors but still I have yet to see my sites included in the DMOZ list.

DMOZ has a page rank of 9, so that's why many consider it important. I think to add your URL, you have to go down to the deepest category that is related to your site.

They approve your site if its totally relevant category.

Yes, DMOZ is the biggest still-free directory around. Google puts that in higher esteem than most other free directories.

The "important" part about been in Dmoz is they big traffic, main part of which is from USA. Anyone who uses pay-per-click ads, knows why it's important to attracts ads particulary from that part of the planet, and been listen in Dmoz, opens up lots of opportunities, as been a truly huge directory.

Myself i submitted a site about a month ago and no sign of life yet

Yeah, i agree with hannah about DMOZ biggest still-free directory around..i just hope nothign happens to it

i submitted another site last month and i knew a editor
and my work is done in a month

some people get in, others don't, but to have to wait 8 months for a reply is not good at all. I guess I can still trust it from the people who got their site made in about a month so there was no problem with that

Well 8 months may be a problem.
This may also be because your Submission may be rejected because of wrong Category placement

Well, it depends on the category you submitted the link to. It took me 9 months to get listed on the hosting category, so just have patience.

Make a 100 checks whether the category you are submitting is appropriate or not.

If it is then make sure your Title / description is not keywords spammy.
Then submit.
