importance of page rank

Do you think that page rank is that important any more? I'd think that ranking high in search results pages would be better, but page rank is still useful in link exchanges and such.

I think pagerank is just the numbers of link you have with other sites. Yes its still important, but not in terms of the pagerank from google.

I think quality backlinks help the most, rather than just having a higher value of page rank. Although some users won't exchange links with you unless you are a certain PR or higher.

Page rank is the only thing which effects your SERP's
Google has introduced it so that it can show results based on the value of the websites

yes, like was said above, PR is a number of other sites linking to urs, but that is the so-called "SE importancy" and is quite essential when it comes to competing over the first place in google, with popular key words, such as "hosting", "free", etc.

Let's put it this way, it won't hurt having a PR9

I believe page rank is important, I use it on many of my forums such as wrestleyourway.com, it also has games and programs.

Well I don't agree. At least not 100%. Though PR is of course important, it's not as important as it used to be. Things have change quite a lot these days. I don't quite agree anymore with the formula SEO*PR=SERPS.

Like I said, what I do not agree is tha extreme importance some people give to PR. Of course you won't be able to rank first if you have PR1 (for a wanted keyword), but content quality, the anchor text of the links that point to you, IMHO these things are more important now.

Agreed. The quality of backlinks matters a lot these days (rather than having so many links come in from unrelated sites), and content is king.

Pagerank is only important of you sell PR related links! If not, then it's not a big deal! Though it does give a bit of trustworthyness to a site!

It is important for purposes of putting some good stats for your site. If you sell your site it is one of the stats that is being looked into.

If you link exchange, more people will exvchange with you if you have a higher PR. It helps build your backlinks.

Yea page rank is really important if you plan on selling your page or links on your page. People tend to be willing to spend alot fo money to get a link on your site as long has you have good page rank.
