Which of the following represents a better structure for a website. As a web designer I prefer the default.aspx option (just to display a cleaner URL). But will either of the other options create enough of a difference (SEO wise) to warrent the change?

a. Domain-name.com/keyword1/default.aspx
b. Domain-name.com/keyword1/keyword1.aspx
c. Domain-name.com/keyword1/keyword2.aspx

Cheers...

Hmm the lack of response makes me think my question may be pretty dumb so i'll provide a little more information.

The website in question ranks about 7 for a very competitive keyword so now its a matter of making smaller tweaks to try to climb the ladder to the top. Can anyone confirm if making changes like what I've specified would make a difference.

The current folder structure is actually

Domain-name.com/keyword1/keyword2/keyword3/default.aspx

Keyword1 is the most important and 2 & 3 are of equal importance. Is there a better way to do this?

I wouldn't sweat to much over this. You're not changing existing page urls are you?

Well I probably would, but only if its going to be worthwhile. I'm looking for whats best in the long term as none of these sites are going anywhere.

hey there,

I am currently using:
mysite.net/keyword1/keyword2/keyword2.html

where as before i was using
mysite.net/keyword1/index.html

i have been getting a reasonable amount of extra hits after i changed from the second example so i would consider it a change worth making if you want to move up a few extra places.

hope i helped

It doesn't really matter. If the keyword is somewhere in the URL you should be fine.
