I have question that I would like answering I hope you will be able to spare me some of your time.

I am trying to attract inbound links for my blog. At present the number of links that I have numbers around the 30 mark. I was wondering is there any way that I can increase this number ? I know that good content plays a large part in the process of gaining inbound links but is there anything else that I should be looking at in order to increase the number of links to the my blog.

Thank you very.

I've got the same question. I can't seem to get over this hump. Equally, I'd like to make more progress with SEO as it relates to blogs.

Link bait. Find a recent revelation in the niche of your blog, or simply make one up (you can always say you were misinformed by sources later on), basically make up a rumour which would be great (or disastrous) for the people who are interested in your niche. With a bit of luck people will blog about your post and leave a link

Who would you give links to? friends or strangers? make connections in your industry, via blogrolling and commenting. then promote posts to partners and places you've commented. suggest pieces to bigger blogs in the niche.
it's a two way street though: give links to them when they ask (probably best to so first).
participate in niche forums and put a link to the blog in your sig.

hope that helps. if you find the budget for it, i'm always available for hire .

Other methods

1. Social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us.
2. Directory submissions.
3. Paid links
4. External wikipedia links, make sure they are relevant or they will be removed.

1. Find the top 5 blogs in your niche (real blogs that give credit to outside sources when they're tipped) and rank them in order of popularity.
2. Blog something really interesting or be the first to cover a trend/news story
3. Starting with the first most popular blog on your list, e-mail them about this great post you just made. Depending on how often these blogs are updated, give them a few hours to a day to either publish it or ignore it. If they ignore it, move on to the next blog on your list.
4. (optional) If your post is condusive to Digg, post it on Digg as soon as the first big blog picks it up. Use YOUR link, though.

Don't sit down and try to write something great just to send to these blogs. Wait until you have a "holy crap" moment that naturally leads to a "holy crap" post.

I have had a lot of success with a couple of link trades with similar blogs. Just email a lot of them and hopefully you will get a response from one or two of them. If the other blog has the numbers, you will see great benefit in traffic and search engine ranking.

Make sure you do it with similar blog of the numbers wont be as good. Also nothing works better then interesting unique content and posting often for a blog.

Hi K_nomad

I am surprised everyone missed the fact that writing articles and submitting them to article directories will give you a lot of inbound links to your site. And it is free as well.

You can also write content so good that others will start linking to you,

Or you could try buying Text Link Ads.

Cheers

Viral approaches can also work well for blogs - take the $15K Challenge, PayItForwardOnline (although seems to be dead now) and ShoeMoney (regularly gets dugg into the hundreds).

The key is to take the avalance of visitors, and make sure most of them "convert" into regulars by having plenty of content already in place.
