Help me get to no1 in google.

Hi all, I need some pointers on upping my google rankings.

I have a niche keyword and I am lucky enough to have nichekeyword.net. I made a small content site with some google ads and I have successfully made it to position number 8 on google when searching the for the niche keyword.

How can I push this up to no1, in fact even up a little bit from no8?

All help is much appreciated!

If you're talking about freeturnkey.net, it's got #2 on google for me. Nice work :thumbup:

i had a similar case (drawingtips.net), and all i did was just leave it.
in February I was on the 3rd-4th page
month later i was on the 2nd page
then i kept alternating from 10th-11th spot
within the last couple of months i started goin to 6th, 5th, 4th spot, and now I am at #2

i didn't optimize my site at all during that time. only advice i can give you is put your keywords in <h1> tags.

I'm not talking about freeturnkey, but thanks for the compliment. I'm talking about an information site I own. I have a few information sites I'm earning a little from, I'd like to just get their rankings higher so I earn more!

There's a good resource.

Get links from blog carnivals to your individual articles.

But anyways, are you sure there's traffic on that keyword? That is, did you just think of it and go, or did you check out overture, google's keyword selector, etc.?

Search for the niche. Copy and paste the number one ranking sites url into the search with "link:" proceeding it

Code:

link:urlOfTopPositionHere

Email each site that is linking to it asking for a link exchange with your site.

See if the number one ranking site has the following things:

Keyword in title
Keyword in h1, h2 tags
Keyword in bold or strong
Keyword referenced to at the beginning and end of the page
Images are named keyword-1.gi, keyword-2.gif etc
Images alt text contain the keyword

Make sure your site covers the previous points

Find sites with decent PR, with your keyword in ther title and ask for a link exchange
