How could i improve search engine traffic overall (seo noob)

How could i improve search engine traffic for an arcade site.

Find high quality and high PR sites and see if you can exchange links with them. Do that with as many sites as possible!

The arcade space is just sooo competitive atm, its going to be VERY hard to get anywhere near the top of the serps for the major keywords. Most of the sites that are in the top 10 have been around for years of course.

As the previous poster said, your best bet is to get as many relevant backlinks as possible with good anchor text - games free online arcade...those words.

One point, that I think a lot of arcade owners dont cover..myself included is on page optimization.

The googlebot, as with all SE bots, likes lots of plain text content. Arcades are naturally pretty short on this with usually very short game descriptions, no more than a sentence or two.

If you can, add much longer and interesting descriptions to your games so the bot sees more related text content. Off course sprinkle a couple keywords in there.

This alone, would set you apart from most of the pack.

Links are important is said above, but I wouldnt exchange links, as in you link for a site and that site links to you, this is a big NO NO for Google these days.
