what do you think, or know by experience, that are the best ways to promote those kind of sites ?
I get the traffic for my proxy from search engines, wich is unusuall for proxys, so i supose thee are other places to get traffic from ?
image host should be generic. Find a popular picture, or a very funny one, upload it to your site (obviously it needs to link back to the site) and post it in as many major teen forums as you can find
I think a great way to promote image hosting is using myspace. A lot of myspace profiles have pictures on them, and if you go around saying use this to upload your images, it could turn into big traffic. You could also maybe buy advertising on a myspace support site.
I use imageshack.us mainly because of their firefox plugin. You just right click on any image on any site and click on upload to imageshack and it automatically uploads it and gives you the codes.
I suggest that you look into their tools and make something similar. If you have some unique tools and faster servers then I'm sure lots more people will use your image service.
I don't see why it would need so much investment having a site like imageshack.
I don't see anything special exept for this firefox plugin :$
And what do you mean by linkdumps ?

Linkdumps are sites who just link directly to the content of other sites, mostly images, video clips, funny things etc.. And then you can add links to your funny images hosted on your imagehostingsite on those sites.
Actually, wouldn't their firefox plugin be open source? It should be possible to create your own for no extra cost at all (only a few hours of coding I guess).
