I am interested (I really am, and I know it takes work) to get the keyword 'MySpace Layouts'. First page at least. My website is greatmyspacelayouts.com

How much should I invest, where should I invest it, and how else can I optimize my page?

1- Get quality back links pointing to your website using the anchor text "myspace layouts", I disagree with vidking, about a few thousand backlinks, you can do it with a way less number as long as you get quality links.
2- Place some custom contesnt on your website instead of the same content the other thousands of websites have, especially if your using a script that everyone else is using.
3- Make sure to include your keywords in your title tag.

Sohaib made a few good points. You should definitely have unique content for your site if you want to stand out. And If you REALLY want to stand out, make sure you have some unique templates for MySpace, not just the same old ones everybody offers.

The beauty of it is, you can go to a place like elance and get people to make original content and original templates for you at very reasonable prices.
