Sorry, I think I first posted this in the wrong section.

I am very new to adsense, and I have just launched my new site travelllama. I have submitted to all search engines and am now waiting for a crawl.

What do you guys think of professional companies offering a paid service of around $800 - $1000 to guarantee my site getting a top 10 ranking within 4 weeks? Do these companies really work? Have any of you used such companies? Or are they just a C..?

Also PayPerclink companies offering to run a professional PPC campaign for you, using the latest technology.

I obviously want to gain maximum exposure of my site and achieve the highest ranking in the shortest possible time. I am willing to stump up the cash if it works, but obviously not if it dont.

Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.

NO ONE can promise you a top X place. it's 100% up to google. Unless they are offering you a top 10 for yourdomain in a query, and that, you certainly can do on your own... So unless they promise a top 10 result in 4 weeks, or your money back, they can't guarantee you anything.

briansol is right, they cannot guarantee. They can have successful experience of bringing sites to the top and this is great. But guarantees :thumbdown:

Plus top 10 ranking within 4 weeks. It really depends upon the niche and competition level and the keywords on which they will be bringing you site up.

And it depends upon search engine too.

For example, I am fighting for a couple of keyphrases, within 1 month I got 1st page in MSN and in Google I am only 3rd page, and I am proud cause this is the niche where the biggest link builders dwell and pushing all those who were on nice pages for years is very good. But I don't cheat myself that Google 1st page will be easy - there is a still a road to come. And not an easy one.

So easy is only with easy keywords.

In your shoes I would look on the sample sites that they pushed to 1st page and check the keywords on which they pushed them. If keywords are hard ("link exchange" or "traffic" or "weight loss" or "music" etc.) and they've managed to succeed (though not during 4 weeks, on some of the keywords I mentioned it could take long months) - then they are worth the money. Otherwise better spend the money on charity.

I could get you top 10 in 4 weeks, but you'd be subsequently banned from google because of the practices i'd have to use to do it.

I get help from a guy who does SEO and he helps me over the phone and tells me things I can do and I have been able to get in the number 1 positions for many of the keywords I have chose.

Black Hat seo is a way through which you can somehow gurantee rankings
but still then it will not be 100% guranteed

Those companies that promise number one rankings in 4 weeks are just out to make a quick buck from you. Don't trust them, your site will end up being banned in Google.

If someone promises you rankings in any amount of time that sounds too good to be true, run. It typically takes round 2-3 months to get good results in MSN (although industry chatter indicates this is going to change), around 6-8 months for Yahoo and around 8 months to 1.5 years to get results in google that are good.

Never trust these shady companies that promise rankings. Promising any type of rankings is not only stupid, but impossible. We provide SEO services to some really large companies and have never promised any of them anything other than that we'll use white hat techniques and that we'll work as hard as we can to get them the results they want.

Besides, it isn't always necessary to be #1 for any keyterm to get great results. It's all about overall traffic increases and covering as broad a range as keywords and keyword phrases as humanly possible.
