Hey, I just got a subscription to WordTracker b/c everyone says it's the bomb, but I'm not finding it much more useful than Overture. Of course, since i JUST subscribed I really don't know how to utilize it yet. But it seems lame. It just gives me a bunch of new keywords and tells me how many pages exist for it. But in my opinion, the key factor in determining a good keyword is seeing how many QUALITY pages exist. I'd rather focus on a keyword that where the first SERP page has some PR0's appearing than a keyword where the first three pages are all PR4+.

Is there a tool that does this type of analysis. Maybe WordTracker does and I just haven't found that feature yet?

Are there better tools out there?

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

WT lets you dig a lot deeper for keywords than Overture. The parameter to pay attention to is KEI. If you find keywords or phrases with high KEI (let's say more than 200) for your market, then you can check in Google SERPS for the PR of the pages.

I was using a tool called "Sonar" or something similar, but lost the link, and can't find it. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and could post the link it would be appreaciated.

I did find this:

Keyword Effectiveness Index - KEI

Took a minute to get the google right. There are a lot of companies with KEI initials. :-)

I am using Good Keywords v2.0 from http://www.goodkeywords.com/ which is a really nice free tool.

I am also using the free version of The Dowser from http://www.thedowser.com/ which also has been helpful in selecting keywords. The Dowser people also sent me a spreadsheet in one of their mails which was quite good - had a list of many of the populor keywords and what they were worth per click as well as their KEI etc
