Google Sandbox, is it a myth?

I saw a post on EF earlier today that said blatantly the Sandbox didn't exist. But I find that quite hard to believe. And from my own personal experience.

I have 1 site I started about 3 months ago and it's not index'd but I do have a site I started 3 days ago that is index'd.

What else would be the explanation for that?

I got a first page Google ranking for a term that gets over 200,000 searches per month in just 3 weeks after registering a domain. I also got a PageRank 5 to that site in just under 5 weeks. So yes... the sandbox is a myth.

However... there is a sandbox-like effect that is seen in Google. This is only because it does usually takes time to show up in the index, especially for highly competitive terms. The reason being that it takes time to build strong authoritive links to the pages you are trying to rank.

I could go on for an hour on this subject... but I'll stop here

Hi,

I would say it does! After my experiences I have had! Right now I have started a new forum and have found it to be indexed by Google. I had about 100 pages which had been indexed and I check this everyday but this morning when I look I find that there are 0 indexed pages!

I think Google uses this “sandbox” to make sure sites are legitimate and not fly-by-night sites

The Sand box is your competition. Long established sites have a lot of links that you will have to over come. there is no sand box penilty for new domains. Links may be sandboxed if you add them too fast but usally only for a short time.

Took my most recent site about 1.5-2 weeks to appear in google so I dont think it exists. 2 week sandbox I can deal with though

I've seen people saying it takes 9 months for sites to appear in the index! 9 months! Dont think it would be in google's interest to do that really.

I believe there is a sandbox, yes.

Several of my sites are indexed, but have no ranking whatsoever.

I most definately believe in the "sandbox". I hate it, but have accepted it.

well.. don't want to call it sandbox; but I put my blog op on seo-portal.com more than a week ago, and pages are still not getting indexed. I think it's because of my old site on that domain; it had some links to 404's etc.
But MSN and Yahoo are both indexing my new postings mostly daily.. but google just doesnt want to play along
