Like many site owners I submit links to my site into assorted web directories. But with so many to chose from, how do you determine which are the best ones ?

Which do you consider:

• Google PageRank
• Alexa Traffic Rank
• Number of backlinks from the main SE's
• Age of the domain
• Something else ?

I really couldn't care, I just submit the link, it's not like you get lots of traffic from directories.

It's not about Traffic. It's about backlinks. I think it's a valid question and would love to hear other opinions.

I tend to look at the quality of inlinks on the directory I am considering, how many outlinks per page, relevancy of those links and I verify that there are no indexing issues with said directory.

Pagerank and traffic (Alexa is usually sufficient)...if the directory is getting tons of traffic and has a good PR, then go for it...because that way you get the best of both worlds. Although I will say that the goal of my directory submission is simply to increase backlinks, not traffic (clicks)

I just submit to whatever I happen to stumble across.
