Hello all,

I recently started desiging a site and have used the web and its infinite html and css tutorials and guides with great results.

I am also paying close attention to SEO issues at the design phase and have become aware that headings are important and to not use more then one <h1> per page, you need text etc etc

What I cannot find is if I need text after each heading?

and if you do not do ithow important is it ?

my structure goes like this

<h1>my keyword search term ( "category" coupon code</h1>
<h2>xyz company</h2>
<h3>keyword tag line (without xyz company)<h3>
<p>85 words of text about company/topic</p>

then if I have more then one advertiser it would continue

<h2> different company</h2>
<h3> different companies tag line</h3>
<p> another 85 words about company/topic</p>

So I have 1 h1

and up to 10 max h2 and h3

but my text is only found after each h3 tag

how important is it to find a way to get text after each heading tag ?

TIA

Well,

IF you believe that heading elements have some magical properties where search engines Are concerned,

Not very

and IF you use them as they should be used,

Not very.

Just use the headings to structure your content so it makes sense for someone reading it. You're probably not going to see major changes in how the page ranks one way or the other.

When I add headings to content I add them because it makes sense in the structure the content. I'll use keywords in my page heading if it makes sense to add them there for clarity.

Always build your pages for real people first.

Well, the concept of a heading is just that, the heading of content.

The reason you can't find any information on it is because it's a relative non-issue, as Hirst said.

You've structured your tags the way they would read in terms of a textbook, which is the most user-friendly thing you can do (since people are accustomed to reading things). You don't have to put any text after a heading, since in many cases (e.g. your own) a subheading is necessary to separate content blocks.
