okay i own a few sites all pritty sucesfull but have never really heard of SEO and by reading this forum and topic it seems its pritty ilportant and seems to give you people alot of visitors to your site

i dont have a clue were to start with this at all and any help would be appriciated

all i can say is that all my sites have been submitted to search engines and directorys (not alot of directorys)

and they all receive vistors after doing that and my other ways of promoting

type "seo tutorial", "seo guide" keywords in google search box here you wud get many sites. They wud teach you SEO Properly...........

it's good for you that though you do not know seo, your sites are still successful. seo is very useful to gain more web exposure and somehow increases your revenue and roi. try to learn more about seo and you will get more than what you are receiving right now.

Hang on there a second Chris. If you type 'seo tutorial' into Google I think a tutorial I wrote comes up on the first page. Let me check.

Looks like I'm on page two. Add the word 'basic' in there and I show up #1. I swear I don't offer regurgitated formula. I haven't done that since I was an infant.

How were you able to read my datacenter like that

Seriously though; people should read that and more importantly LOOK at it with a critical eye and take note of;

Title Element: Says exactly what the page is about,
Meta Description: A good attractive sentence for click-throughs.
Meta Keywords: NONE at all

no bolded keywords, headings used where they should be, the content written for people.

people go look at it and see that it doesn't look like it has been attacked by a SEO at all, and therein lies the real secret of successful SEO ( see this post ) ...

making a page/site look like it hasn't been SEO'd!

Chris the secret keyword density I aimed for is PIE, and no that's not a misspelling. I aimed for apple pie.

The secret to ranking the page isn't really a secret. I just wrote an article, one that's not probably a little out of date and can use a rewrite. It's actually a series of 7 posts that each link to the other posts.

The title matches the keywords. The meta description is from a WordPress plugin that automatically uses the first X number (I forget what I set it to) of words of the post. I would have been better writing a unique description, but I admit to laziness.

I wrote the occasional article for another site that links back to the post. Over time a few people who read the post liked it and linked to it or bookmarked it at some social site. I never asked anyone to do that.

I have no idea how many times I used an specific word or phrase. I just wrote the article for it to be read. I assume I used words related to seo, basics, and tutorial, throughout, but I have no idea how often.

So my secret is I wrote an article that a few people liked. The phrase(s) it ranks for aren't the most competitive, though I suppose they're more competitive than some.
