my website is 1 year old.iam not getting any pagerank.i dony know why iam not getting it?

Depends on your site. What is it? Chances are that you have at least some internal PageRank.

You need to build backlinks to your web pages to gain Pagerank, Pagerank is basically a voting system, a inbound link technically counts as a vote. Certian inbound links have a higher value vote than others. You want to get backlinks from sites related to yours and that already have a Pagerank value.

To get good Page rank you need get quality backlinks from other site. You need done some SEO work on that like Good content writing, Article submission, Directory submission, blog posting, online discussion gives you good results in PR.

A backlink is another site pointing towards yours. Such as my signature is a link pointing to my websites - so i have a backlink

(my sites are crap though so don't look... i'm still working on the million dollar idea )

No links to "bad neighborhood" sites

If you have those 4 things you'll have atleast some sort of pagerank...

ya, it is right and the no of quality backlinks increase your site PR.

To the OP, i suggest you look for high PR dofollow blogs and aparticipate. Just don't spam and be relevant on your posts and always stay on topic.

It's not really that much important but if you are bothered about it then build links to your site. It will be more helpful if it is related to your website.

I don't know why Page rank had been this popular. LOL

Maybe you have to build back links from websites that are relevant or related to your site have patience. i know it has been a year already but still no PR, just continue the work
