I answered this post on digital point already, but I'll do it here for reference purproses for Webmaster Talk users who don't visit DP.
SEO is not a one-time deal, you must constantly work to optimize your pages, build rich unique content and build backlinks, failure to do so can result in you losing SERPs to competitors.
Don't forget that search engines change their algorithms to prevent cheating and provide more relevant search results to searchers. In this process you can also lose rankings, again another reason why you must keep on top of your SEO work for your site(s).
General rule of thumb, don't expect more than 30% of your traffic to be from search engines, cause again due to algorithm changes you might see all that traffic disappear for a few days, few weeks even a few months!
